The Quiet Little Town of Kehl

Kehl is a small town in southwestern Germany. It is right next to the more known French city of Strasbourg.

For tourists, Kehl is not exactly the place they have on their must-visit destinations. Generally, there was nothing interesting to see here but of course, I could be wrong since we spent most of our time in Strasbourg. However, Kehl is the best option for budget travelers who want to visit the Christmas Capital. The Airbnb cost here is way cheaper than in Strasbourg. Also, transportation is generally convenient since there is a direct tram every 10 minutes. In just more or less 15 minutes, you’re already in the center of Strasbourg.

Basically, we only stayed in town to sleep and spent most of our time in Strasbourg. So, on our last day, we decided to take a walk around town and crossed the bridge to get to France. Personally, the town felt a bit strange probably because there are no tourists walking around except us. This feeling also was the reason why I didn’t take my camera out quite often because the people might dislike it. However, I find it cute and wonder what it looks like during summer. If only I knew that there was a flea market in the center, I could have eaten a light breakfast. 🙁

There was one thing that is noticeable though. If the Philippines is crazy about whitening soap, this town is crazy about cigarettes. Cigarette stores are next to each other. 😀

Overall, we had a great time and were grateful for our very kind Airbnb host, Ms. Marie. If you want to stay in Kehl, Ms. Marie’s place is highly recommended.
