Turin, Italy

The last leg of our sudden road trip twist was Turin. It is the only Italian city closest to France that has an available flight going home and of course, the only option we had considering our budget limit.

Since we’re already here, why not check out the city? So we booked a train a day before our flight and spent a night in Turin. As it turned out, there is a Filipino restaurant in Turin which is for us, comforting even after all the fuckery that had happened. So we went straight ahead and enjoyed a home-cooked Filipino meal.

The city is relatively small compared to Rome. We spent the next day walking around the city. We ended up finding a covered market and boy oh boy, it is indeed true to find a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Calamares, deep-fried sardines, and pasta with mussels for days! Anything food? Sign me up. Seafood? Even better!

Late in the afternoon, we were already on our way to the airport because we don’t want to miss our flight. We can’t afford to stretch our already extended vacation. And of course, unsurprisingly, the flight was delayed for 2 hours. We arrived home late and très pauvres.
