La Grande Arche de la Défense

The Great Arch of the Defense is located in the business district of La Défense. A 110-meter-high cube, La Grande Arche is part of the perspective from the Louvre to Arc de Triomphe. The building is mostly occupied by government offices, but the roof deck is open to the public that features a restaurant, an art gallery, and a panoramic view of Paris.

Most of the time, the weather in Paris is gloomy. But the day we went up there was the complete opposite. Going up to the rooftop was a little edgy, with an elevator made of glass, and looking down while inside the lift could be terrifying, especially to an acrophobic like me. However, the view over Paris and the intense color of the sunset erased all that. The panorama is stunning. Paris glows at night. If not for the biting cold and hunger, we could have stayed longer. 😛
