Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Today, we’re going to talk about our recent short trip to Luxembourg, a charming country located in the heart of Europe. We started our journey from Metz, France, which is just a short distance away from Luxembourg. We hopped on a train and arrived in Luxembourg City in no time.
As soon as we got off the train, we realized that we had forgotten an important fact about Luxembourg’s public transportation system: it’s free! Yes, you read that right. Public transportation in Luxembourg is completely free, which was a pleasant surprise for us. However, we didn’t know this at first and panicked when we couldn’t find a ticket machine as the tram was arriving. We thought we might get into trouble for not having a ticket, but then a friendly local informed us of the free transportation policy. What a relief!
As soon as we arrive in the city center, we headed to the Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We wandered through the narrow streets and marveled at the stunning architecture of the buildings, many of which date back to the Middle Ages. We also visited the Grand Ducal Palace, which is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Sadly, he wasn’t home when we visited, so we couldn’t invite ourselves in for tea.
Before we headed back to Metz, we stayed at Place des Martyrs to kill the time while waiting for our train. And here comes the good news: nobody stole my phone, even though I accidentally left it on the bench. It just goes to show how safe and secure Luxembourg is as a travel destination.
Overall, our short trip to Luxembourg was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the beautiful sights, the friendly people, and the great food. And best of all, we didn’t break the bank, thanks to the free public transportation. So if you’re looking for a unique and affordable travel destination in Europe, be sure to put Luxembourg on your list. And remember, don’t panic if you can’t find a ticket machine – public transportation is free!
