Darwin: A Hidden Hip Place of Bordeaux

I’ve been to Bordeaux a couple of times but it was the first time I’ve heard of Darwin when Iris brought me there, together with her friend all the way from Manila and the other one from Barcelona.

Darwin environment is completely opposite from the typical grandiose 18th century urban architecture of Bordeaux. Here, you can see the hippie and rebellious vibes. A place where graffiti, skateboarding, food and workplace co-exists in harmony. There are even small apartments inside the compound for those who want to spend a night or two here.

Skateboarders of no age limit have their place inside the buildings with complete ramps. Graffiti artists display their works on the walls. Professionals work in a co-working place although I am not sure if there are many start-ups currently based here. And of course, this place is not complete without food. If you just want coffee or up for some burgers, pizzas and more, Darwin has it.

By the time we visited Darwin, it was obviously still under development but it’s quite interesting how it will look like in the future.
