Rome, Italy

Go to Rome anytime but summer. We knew that there was a heatwave across Europe around that time but didn’t realized it was that hot.

We were able to visit Rome thanks Iris’ voucher from her company. This was our first Italy trip together, my first time but her second time after she had a layover in Milan. You would expect to have goosebumps because of the history but it didn’t happen because of the heatwave, obviously, but also of how dirty the city was. Piles of rotten garbage were everywhere. I’m pretty sure it was not like that everyday but that time was just exceptional.

However, the main reason for my excitement of going to Rome was not the city itself, but what’s in the city: Jollibee!!! As soon as we dropped off our things at the hotel, we headed directly to Jollibee. Over the next days, we also found some Filipino restaurants. Yes, no pasta and pizza. Shame, right? Well, we rather be shameless than having a toilet emergency in the middle of the street. 😀 We’re both lactose intolerant.

The heatwave was just the start of the things that went south on our trip. The worst is yet to come in the next few days.
