Monte Carlo, Monaco
Monaco is just few minutes train ride from Nice. The last time we were here, we only went to the marina since we had limited time. This time, we had our full day to spend exploring Monaco.
The same as before, nothing has changed. Everywhere you look, everything is expensive. If you hate money, this is the right place to get rid of it. 😛 There were quite a lot of people here which got me wondering, are these rich people or are they just like us who are curious of what luxury looks like? :thinking-face: Whichever it is, they sure are in the right place.
After we took off from the train, we walked downhill straight to Grimaldi Forum where the arts of Alberto Giacometti were displayed and stayed a little bit on their small Japanese garden before lunch. Normally, I wouldn’t care going to a restaurant with just t-shirt, shorts and sneakers on. What’s important is that, I can pay. However, it just doesn’t work in Monaco. If you don’t own at least a yacht and a lambo, something’s in your head telling you, “You don’t belong here, peasant. Go find your way to McDonald’s”. And yes we did. 😀
And on our way, we heard a familiar language. Wherever we go, it’s guaranteed to meet Filipinos. That moment when you locked eyes and simultaneously raised your both eyebrows feels different. Inner joy, relief and awkwardness hits you at the same time. 😛
