Gold Coast, Australia
My brother lives on the Gold Coast, so my sister booked an Airbnb and stayed there for a few days during Christmas.
The Gold Coast is known for its surfing. In fact, there’s a spot in the city called Surfers Paradise. As expected, there were quite a few surfers at the time, along with many tourists swimming. The shoreline spans several kilometers, covering the city and beyond.
Frankly, I’d like to learn to surf, and I’ve done it twice before. However, the idea of surfing in Australia doesn’t really whet my appetite for getting on the board. All I can think about is sharks—sharks everywhere. 😛 Yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s a baseless paranoia, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to be on the safe side, right?
In my opinion, the city is a perfect combination of modern and laid-back living. High-rise buildings, convenience, and the beach all in one place—everything that defines comfort for me.
Everything was great, except for the weird and unpredictable weather. One minute it was sunny and bright, the next there was a tornado and storm. Come on, Australia, make up your mind!
