Bruges, Belgium

A few hours north of Paris, Bruges, a beautiful city in Belgium, is accessible via train through Lille. In May, we took a weekend trip to explore this charming destination. Bruges is smaller than cities like Ghent or Brussels and lies closer to the English Channel—a perfect excuse for us to visit the coastal Belgian city of Ostend.

Belgium is famous for its beers, and Bruges is no exception. The city isn’t that big, so a day or two is plenty to explore it. Naturally, we took some time to enjoy a few Lagers and IPAs. What really caught us off guard, though, was how expensive the meals were. We didn’t expect to spend at least 60 euros per meal for the two of us! Thankfully, each meal was followed by a good Belgian beer. 😉

Alongside all the walking, we enjoyed a delicious Argentinian steak (I know, not quite local, but I’ve always wanted to visit Argentina for an authentic steak) and, of course, some waffles.

Overall, it was a well-spent weekend, and we even brought home some fine Belgian whiskey.
