Belgian Quickie
I had a five-hour layover in Brussels when I was on my way to Bordeaux to visit Iris. Instead of staying at the airport, I decided to take a quick tour in Brussels city since it is just a 30-minute bus ride from the airport.
I already did research on what to see for just a couple of hours. Since I don’t have internet access, I downloaded Google Maps to give me direction while roaming around the city. I didn’t want to get lost in the city and miss my flight. I didn’t use it much and I had no idea that the directions feature doesn’t work on offline maps. Honestly, I’m not good with directions. 😉
So, I started to get a little worried when I arrived in the city. It was a good thing I checked the map before my trip so I still remember some of the streets from the bus stop. Instead of wasting time worrying if I ever get lost, I just started walking and few minutes later, I arrived at the park. Took some pictures and moved on to the next tourist attraction. To make sure that I am on the right track, I just followed the crowd because I know, they were tourists too and we were going on the same direction. *winks*
I passed by some museums, took some pictures around Grand Place, checked out Manneken Pis and tried legit Belgian Waffles. At first I wondered when I saw the 1 euro waffle signs outside the stores thinking why it’s cheap. But when I looked closer, there was an asterisk saying waffle only. You need to pay for the toppings. 😀 Very clever.
After I finished my waffle, I went back to the bus station going back to the airport. I wanted to take my lunch in the city and try their beer but I realized I might miss my flight. But it turned out that my flight was delayed for 7 hours. 7 F***ING HOURS! >.<
Oh well, I think I still have plenty of time here so I might come back and drink that beer soon. :3
