It Rained in Rennes

Travelling without research is most of the time, a nightmare. However, it has also its surprises.

The main purpose of this trip was only to visit Mont Saint-Michel but since we still had time, might as well explore the city of Rennes. So Iris and I spent the night in the city before going back to Bordeaux. And to be honest, I would not survive if we planned to go back home after Mont Saint-Michel.

We walked around the city on the following day and see what Rennes has to offer for two budgetarian asian couple. 😀 It was only Iris who did the research (as always) so she took the lead. The first plan was to find crepes for lunch. I had no idea why but we’ve seen a lot of Creperies around the city, so I guess crepes must be famous here. However, what fascinated me the most while we’re on our way to find crepes were the preserved medieval houses within the city. I always had this fantasy of time travelling and seeing these thousand years old houses and streets is the closest thing to it. It lets you run your imagination on how was life back then and how the people used to wander around where we stood. It’s amazing.

Enough with the imagination. We finally decided to have our lunch at the Creperie next to Cathedral Saint-Pierre de Rennes, which by the way is enormous. You can find the scale on the 3rd picture from the bottom. The frame is just 1/4 of the cathedral’s height.

Unfortunately, it rained so we didn’t do much. We visited other churches nearby, went to the city hall and finally walked towards the museum to kill the time before going back to Bordeaux. Just a tip, if museums are your thing and happened to be in Europe, you better do some research because they always have admission free day every week or every month, depends on the museum. 😉

Before we took our bus, we had dinner in an Asian restaurant because we’re craving for rice and soup. 😀 #riceIsLife

Overall, it was fun and a great experience personally, for us and for the blog. 😛 We went home and prepare for the next adventure.
