A cold and foggy night at Osmeña Peak

This was my second time to climb the peak in Dalaguete. The first one was memorable as we tried to traverse the trail from Osmeña Peak to Kawasan Falls with not enough food and a sleepless night. It took us almost 6 hours to arrive at the first falls and everybody was exhausted and dead-tired.

However, this time was more epic. We already anticipated the fog at night until dawn but we didn’t expect the strong winds that broke the poles of our tents when it hit us late at night. To make things worst, it rained. Most of us got wet and with two useless tents, we had to compress ourselves in a small tent together with the campers next to us because they lost theirs too. So the tent that is good for two saved seven little chilling souls. However, the tent didn’t last long. One of the poles snapped later as the wind continued overnight. Lesson learned: buy durable and trusted brand of tent. 😛

We survived a sleepless-wet-cold-foggy night but the experience we had was indeed the best proof of saying, “I conquered Osmeña Peak!”. What is your worst yet unforgettably epic experience up in the mountain? Share it in the comment below. 😉
